Dr. Chirag Desai, DMD, graduated from Boston University’s prestigious seven year combined degree dental program where he earned his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1999. He completed a general practice residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center affiliate of Cornell University followed by his internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. He then went on to complete a four year specialty training/residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at The Brooklyn Hospital Center affiliate of Cornell University in New York City. His training included hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training.
Dr. Desai is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is an active member of the Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, and the Will County Dental Society.
Dr. Desai is a full scope oral and maxillofacial surgeon with expertise ranging from dental implants to corrective jaw surgery, facial injuries, wisdom teeth removal, and pediatric and adolescent oral surgery. Dr. Desai is a leading expert in the field of dental implants and frequently lectures on this subject. He also has a special interest in management of wisdom teeth, general anesthesia, and bone grafting.
He is actively involved in his continuing education through Spear study clubs, where he routinely obtains three times the national average of continuing education. It is this pursuit of continuing education that has led to Dr. Desai being voted Top Dentist by Chicago Magazine for the last seven years.
As an active member of the hospital staff at Silver Cross Hospital, Dr. Desai provides emergency care to patients with complex maxillofacial trauma. He is regularly re-certified in Basic Life Support (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
His office in Frankfort, IL is a state-of-the-art surgical facility equipped with the most current sterilization, anesthesia monitoring, and imaging equipment. He and his staff are committed to providing compassionate care of the highest quality, in a timely and considerate manner.
Dr. Desai enjoys spending time with his wife Tejal, and his wonderful children, Sohum and Naya. His hobbies include skiing, traveling, and completing items on his wife’s “Honey, Do” list.
